The government will soon decide the appropriate age for marriage for daughters: PM

New Delhi: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the country's girls that the government would determine the appropriate age for marriage after the relevant committee submits its report.

"Discussions are underway to determine the appropriate age for marriage of our daughters. The relevant committee has not yet decided why the girls from all over the country wanted to know. " India's seventy-five year long relationship with the Food and Agriculture Organization.

She also spoke about the steps taken by her government to protect women's health and hygiene.

"We are taking appropriate measures for the health of our girls. We continue to provide water to every family through the Water Life Mission. We are providing sanitary pads for each of them," she said.

On September 22, the central government said that a working group was formed to examine the relationship between marriage age and motherhood.

"Examine the relationship between marriage and maternity age and (1) health and medical well-being and pregnancy, maternal and newborn / infant / child nutrition, (2) infant mortality, maternal mortality rate, fertility rate. The task force has been constituted. In total, the sex ratio at birth, the ratio of children to sexes and (3) any relevant issues related to health and nutrition in this regard, ”Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Gupta said in a written reply during the Iranian hearing.

Mr Gupta asked if it was true that the government was reviewing the legal age of marriage for women, who are currently 18 years old.
